Divergence

Where the data layers disagree

Four independent readings run on every company we cover: price structure, news sentiment, analyst coverage and fundamentals. Most days they broadly agree. The divergence score is what is left when they do not, measured on the same scale for every name, every trading day.

It describes the data on a company. It is not a view on the company, and not a view on what the price does next.

Reading of 2026-10-19, across 552 scored names. Public pages run 3 trading days behind the live scan.

Every scored name, grouped by divergence in bands of five points.

Widest disagreement

The layers read these companies least alike. High divergence is not a verdict: it is the day telling you the evidence is mixed.

Here the four layers land in roughly the same place, so the bias score beside them rests on evidence that does not conflict with itself.

How to read the two numbers

Bias runs from -100 to +100 and says where the four layers land on balance. Divergence says how far apart they were before they were combined. A name at +40 with low divergence and a name at +40 with high divergence are not the same reading, and the second one is the more interesting page to open. Which layer is the odd one out is the part an account answers, on the dashboard.

What the disagreement means for a stock you follow, with dated examples of each shape it takes, is in our guide: Stock Divergence: What It Means When the Data Disagrees.

Questions

What is a divergence score?
It is how far apart four independent readings of the same company sit on a given day: price structure, news sentiment, analyst coverage and fundamentals. A low number means the four are aligned. A high number means at least one of them reads the company differently from the rest.
Does high divergence mean a stock is mispriced?
No. Divergence describes the data, not the company and not the price. It says the layers disagree, and it says nothing about which one is right or about what happens next. EquityBias publishes readings, not recommendations.
How is it different from a bias score?
The bias score is where the four layers land on balance, from -100 to +100. The divergence score is how much they had to be reconciled to get there. Two companies can carry the same bias score with completely different levels of agreement behind it.
How often does it update?
Every trading day, after the close. Public pages show a reading 3 trading days behind the live one; an account sees the current day.

Not investment advice. A Bias Score describes market data that already exists, it does not forecast price, and past readings say nothing about future results. Trading equities carries risk and you can lose part or all of what you put in.
